Scottish Masters Football Returns To P&J Live In Bumper Three-Year Deal
Record media numbers deliver outstanding value for sponsors
Following the phenomenal success of the 2024 Scottish Masters at P&J Live in November last year, the venue has just penned an exclusive three-year deal with Masters Football for the six-a-side indoor tournament to be hosted again in the Granite City from 2025 – 2027.
Confirmed for Friday 14th November 2025, the tournament is set to become a fixture at the venue for the foreseeable future and competing captains and players for the 2025 edition featuring Aberdeen, Rangers, Celtic and Dundee United will be announced in due course.
Scottish Masters Football was formed in 2000 and became a fixture on our screens where ex-footballers could regroup, pull on their team colours and compete once again. Some 15 arenas have hosted the tournament over the past 12 years, with more than 1,500 ex-professional footballers playing in The Masters series since inception.
BBC Sport Scotland has also agreed to return as the event’s official broadcast partner following record media numbers at the 2024 event.
Rob Wicks, Managing Director of P&J Live, said: “The inaugural TEXO Scottish Masters was a huge success and it’s terrific to have secured a new, long-term deal for Aberdeen to host this popular tournament.
“P&J Live undertook this event as a co-promote, sharing responsibilities with the promoter for what was a complex and multifaceted show. From securing a media partnership with the BBC to attracting a broad range of sponsors and implementing a full marketing plan, as well as the actual event delivery, we had a significant level of involvement in the event.
“The venue hosted three events on the day – a community coaching session with the Russell Anderson Foundation and AFC Community Trust, a Legends’ Lunch for corporate guests, and the sold-out tournament in the arena with a fantastic mix of former Scottish team players.
“To see fans from four leading Scottish teams come together and generate an electric atmosphere was great to see and the record social media and broadcast numbers for our sponsors was the icing on the cake.”
Steve Black, Managing Director of Masters Football, said: “Scottish Masters 2024 was an evening of pure entertainment, with some magnificent skill from some of Scottish football’s biggest names. We are thrilled to have signed this new deal with P&J Live, and we look forward to what the next three years will bring. We’ve certainly got some exciting plans to grow and develop the event. We would like to thank our sponsors who have already come on board for the second year, including TEXO, Gambling.com, Pipeline Energy Solutions, Moving Forward Sports, Grilla, and Curtis Sport.”
Formed from squads of eight for each game and with six players on the pitch at one time, the event typically features a round robin format and the two squads with the highest points then facing off in a grand final.
Having won the title in 2024, the pressure is now on Aberdeen to secure a second home win in 2025.
