P&J Live Partners With Step Change In Safety To Launch Workforce Wellbeing & Safety Expo

Following the successful acquisition of the Safety Expo in 2025, Aberdeen’s P&J Live has teamed up with Step Change in Safety (SCiS), the not-for-profit organisation dedicated to preventing incidents and injuries across the energy industry, to relaunch and rebrand the conference and exhibition as the Workforce Wellbeing & Safety Expo. This repositioned event will take place at P&J Live on Thursday 29th October 2026.

Combining P&J Live’s platform with SCiS leadership in workforce safety and wellbeing, this partnership signals a new direction for the event - building on its foundations while resetting the focus towards what really makes a difference for the workforce in practice, with a clear emphasis on conversations, relevant content and meaningful engagement.

The Expo is aimed at those responsible for shaping and delivering safety and wellbeing outcomes – including workforce wellbeing and safety leaders, operational and site management teams, and safety representatives. While the event remains strongly rooted in the energy sectors, it is designed to resonate more widely, bringing in perspectives from industries such as distilling, renewables, manufacturing, construction and agriculture, where many of the same workforce challenges and risks are shared.

The day will bring together a ticketed Breakfast Forum, and a free-to-attend conference, featuring a thought leadership main stage, alongside an industry exhibition showcasing organisations, solutions and services that support workforce safety and wellbeing. Dedicated full-day programmes for Safety Representatives and Site Managers - building on two SCiS established events - will deliver tailored sessions designed around the priorities, challenges and realities of each role.

David Lochridge has been confirmed as keynote speaker for the ticketed Breakfast Forum. A former Royal Navy submariner and submersible pilot, he is widely recognised for raising safety concerns prior to the Titan submersible disaster and now shares lessons on leadership, decision-making and speaking up in high-risk environments.

The relaunch has already secured early backing from three major energy leaders, with Adura confirmed as Principal Sponsor and Supporting Sponsorship from bp (Safety Reps programme) and Harbour Energy (Site Managers programme).

Rob Wicks, Managing Director at P&J Live, said: “We are delighted to have Step Change in Safety on board as we take this event to the next level. The synergies between SCiS and the event perfectly align, and they have decades of experience, an excellent membership network and expertise to help us make the event truly valuable and credible to workforces.”

Craig Wiggins, CEO of Step Change in Safety said: “This Expo builds on the strong foundations already in place across industry - with a continued focus on workforce safety and wellbeing, and a clear emphasis on what makes a difference in practice. By bringing together different industries, roles and experiences, it creates an opportunity to learn from each other and strengthen how we approach safety and wellbeing. There is a huge amount of good work already happening and this event is about connecting that, building on it and taking it further.”
