Staying fit while isolating

Exercise plays a vital role in keeping our mental and physical health up, especially now that we are all isolating. So, I thought I'd workout (sorry couldn't help myself) some of the best fitness apps offering free versions or trials to get you up and moving while responsibly isolating.

SWORKIT

There are over 25 million people using Sworkit worldwide, including me, so you know it has to be good. Sworkit allows you to choose what kind of workout you want e.g., strength or cardio, which part of the body you want to focus on and how long you want to exercise for. The best thing is that it focuses on body weight exercises which can be done from home and the exercises can be easily adapted for children. iOS and Andriod.

SIMPLY YOGA

I know that not everyone enjoys planks and squats. Simply Yoga is a great way to get some stretches in. Doing yoga is a great way to help your breathing and posture, just what you need after binge watching Netflix. Simply Yoga allows you to choose from 20, 40, or 60-minute routines which can be done from the comfort of your own home. Each pose is demonstrated by a personal trainer so you can make sure you’re getting your technique right. iOS and Android.

30-DAY AB CHALLENGE

If you haven’t worked out in a while and your looking for some motivation to avoid becoming a couch potato during isolation, then a challenge is perfect for you. The 30-day Ab Challenge will allow you to start your workout journey slowly, with a mixture of sit-ups, crunches, planks, leg raises and twists, steadily building up over the month as improve your fitness. You’ll start to see those abs in no time. iOS.

DAILY WORKOUTS FITNESS TRAINER

Ideal for breaking a sweat at home, this app leads users through 100+ simple exercises you can do at home, like tap out planks, donkey kicks, and bicycle crunches. You can pick between ten different 5 to 10-minute targeted workouts, or, if you’re wanting to push yourself you can opt for a 10 to 30-minute randomised full body workout. iOS and Andriod.

7 MINUTE WORKOUT

This app is perfect for people who don't have time for long exercise sessions. The 7 minute workout which doesn't require any equipment is the ideal way to combat the excuses. This app is designed to make you sweat and deliver maximum benefit in the shortest time possible! Quickly and effectively break a sweat—and then get on with the rest of your day (at home). iOS and Android.

FITON

The concept behind FitOn is that famous personal trainers aren’t just for famous people. It promises regular people access to workouts from some of today’s top trainers, including Jeanette Jenkins (who’s worked with Pink, Alicia Keys, and Mindy Kaling), Cassey Ho of Blogilates, and Katie Dunlop of Love Sweat Fitness. You can pick your workout from categories like cardio, strength, HIIT, dance, yoga, Pilates, and Barre workouts. iOS and Android.

J&J OFFICIAL 7-MINUTE WORKOUT

Johnson & Johnson a pharmaceutical company created a fitness app. The app was designed by Chris Jordan, director of exercise physiology at J&J’s Human Performance Institute, the app boasts 72 different exercises and 22 workouts, with options ranging in both duration (7 to 32 minutes) and intensity. This app allows you to set up workout alerts to boost your motivation. iOS and Android.

Picking the perfect playlist

Don't forget to pick the perfect playlist before you start working out. My personal favourites are: WORKOUT PLAYLIST 2020, 100 Hits! 2020 Running + Workout Playlist and Workout Songs 2020 - Best Gym Playlist 2020. You can also create your own playlists using songs by your favourite artists on Spotify and Apple Music. The best thing about working out at home is singing along to the music without any judgement (except from your neighbours...).

I hope you enjoy my top fitness picks! Make sure you tag us in your workouts @pandjlive. M x
